A Hobby

Hi there

Altough I haven't been always fond of listening to music, now, everytime I can do it, well, I do it. I think it was an influence from my best friend, who I met at high school. He always was with his headphones on, so you couldn't imagine him without them. Maybe it was listening to new music genres that interested me. I'm very selective about wich songs I listen to; in fact, I like just a few songs per author, so, in order to get a good playlist, I need to search a lot. You could say that rather listening to music, my hobby is look for new music to listen to. I think everyone does it, but in my case I like music genres for periods of time, until I get a little tired after listening to it a lot of times. Often, when I hear a song that I don't know, I search about it, the artist, the genre, and that's how everything starts. Some time ago it was dubstep and electro house (I had a friend that listened to Fox Stevenson); then, I got interested in alternative rock 'cause it reminded me my childhood listening to Linkin Park (my brother liked it). After that, pop rock and pop. Actually, Imagine Dragons and One Republic got me for a very long time. I'm not sure abot the the next "steps", since I jumped from softer pop to hard rock. Right now, I'm very interested in electro and dance (though I don´t dance a lot lol). It's not like I stop listening to the "old" genres. In fact, they are still in my playlist. It's just that I get more interested in the new ones. I like to think about it like selecting the best songs from every genre and artist (at least the ones that I like most) in order to get a, mmhh, you know, a super playlist. Here I let Calvin Harris' Blame, sang by John Newman

A Famous Chilean

Sorry to dissapoint you guys, but I don't really know a lot of famous people from chile, and the few ones, I don't admire them. I mean, there's a lot of chilean people that have achieved big goals and are known world wide, so you could say I respect them, but I don't admire them, and I'm not really interested in their work. Maybe the person that's closest to that is Diego Portales. He was a businessman who was granted the monopoly of tobacco. But this business did't work out, since there was a lot of trafficking. So he started to think that the governing people, the "pipiolos" that were liberals, weren´t competent enough to lead the nation, because they couldn´t even guarantee what they promised to Portales. Here comes the thinking that people cannot be responsibles for theirselves and until they are, there must be an authoritarian government. I know it's a bit radical, and I don't totally agree with that, but sometimes I think society needs to mature. A lot of stupid things have happened and I'm sure a lot more are going to happen for a really long time. The thing is, if they are not allowed to think by theirselves in this period, how are they supossed to mature? It's a trial and error process, so they need to make mistakes, I think. You could say that now I'm going against what Portales said, but I rather like all the toughts and dilemma that this thinking brings. Anyway, like I said, people need to grow up psychologically (including me).

Victory City

It seems like human kind has always wanted an utopian world. And here it is:

http://fishmech.info/www.victorycities.com/

The plan is bring people a better life standard, environment conditions and avoid traffic congestion. How? With a fully regulated city. So I read the residential apartments and resident guidelines section. The system isn't really that different if you compare it with te actual one. They will have residencial buildings with flats and all the stuff. They are just improved: they can be cleaned really fast after the person living there leaves, so the new users can get them sooner. The trash dispossal changes a bit too and it will be eliminated "before ever it gets started". Sounds fine, huh. The great difference about the residential plan is the distribution. There will be two areas: the quiet and the regular ones. At the quiet areas, TV's, stereos and musical instruments are banned. There is a central tv and musci system, so everyone can listen to it from home. About transportation, there will be used elevators and mini electric cars, and traffic congestion will be avoided.
Maybe it sounds nice or utopian, but I'm sure it wouldn't be really great. Since everything is controlled, there is no real freedom, and that's how i turns to a distopian city, something like Orwell's 1984, Huxley's A Brave New world or Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451. Although people wouldn't complain when they are already in this city, if you told them before, they'll refuse, because free will is very important to human beings, and a perfect world should be reached by everyone collaboration and responsability, in a process that would take centuries or even more, with the people maturity.

Something you did last weekend

Well, I can´t say it was a productive weekend, but it wasn't so bad. On Friday, after classes, I stayed at the university talking with friends and having some drinks. Sounds normal but actually that's a little strange for me, I mean, I'm not a very sociable person. I rather like to be alone at my house, rest or do anything, in a quiet ambient. I get a little bothered and start to lose tolerance when there are lots of people, and I hate loud noises and that stuff, so I don´t go to parties very often. Anyway, sometimes I go out and have a lot of fun too, but I think that's once a month. As I'm not used to drink a lot of alcohol, I got a bit dizzy very soon haha, but it was funny anyway. I wanted to travel and visit my parents, but I was very busy with my project for workshop. The plan was to take advantage of the two free days and finish it soon, so I could rest then, but it wasn' like that at all. As always, I finished it on wednesday (lol), so I could have travelled (....). Though I didn't work on Monday and Tuesday, I had a lot of time to sleep, so I recovered some energy for the rest of the month (or the week at least). I think I could spend more time with friends and other people, 'cause in the end I enjoy it (though I'm not very fond of it).
